- Solve concrete engineering problems around latency, throughput, consistency, data durability, and storage cost.
- Own parts of the system end-to-end, from design through production rollout.
- Shape the team's technical direction through design reviews, prototypes, and honest debate.
- Use modern development practices and AI-assisted tooling to keep the iteration loop tight and the quality bar high.
- Participate in incident response and drive the follow-up fixes.
- Collaborate with partner teams across Hamburg, the US, and India.

Qualifikationen
- Curiousity: you dig into unfamiliar systems and keep asking why until you hit the root cause.
- Teamplayer, comfortable giving and taking direct feedback.
- Strong programming skills, ideally Java.
- Clear, direct communication in German and English.
- Working knowledge of distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and a major cloud platform (AWS preferred).
- Familiarity with observability tooling such as Splunk, Grafana, or Prometheus.
- Experimenting with AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Claude Code).
Erfahrung
- Several years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of owning non-trivial systems in production.
- Hands-on experience with Spring, NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB, and message queues.
