- Drive projects end to end: clarify the problem, shape the solution, scope the work, and lead delivery through implementation, testing, deployment, and operation.
- Build production services, pipelines, and data products in Go and Python, with clear interfaces, automated tests, and strong observability.
- Design schemas, data contracts, and domain models that evolve safely, handle late-arriving data, and answer real business questions.
- Build in data quality checks, lineage, freshness monitoring, and clear ownership.
- Operate and improve the systems you build, including incident response, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Work with product, engineering, analytics, and data science to agree priorities and resolve trade-offs and support other engineers through mentoring, code reviews, and clear documentation.

Qualifikationen
- A track record of building production services in Go or another statically typed language, alongside solid Python skills and the ability to work across our stack.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including maintainable code, automated testing, API design, and observability.
- Demonstrated ownership of projects from problem definition to production: you turn open questions into a workable plan, make sound technical decisions, and drive delivery while maintaining engineering quality.
- The ability to learn quickly, work through unfamiliar problems, and make practical trade-offs around reliability, performance, and cost.
Erfahrung
- Senior-level experience delivering and operating production systems in a cloud environment. Experience with AWS or Palantir Foundry is useful, but experience with other cloud platforms is equally welcome.
- Experience with data modeling and reliable data processing, or strong transferable backend skills and the ability and motivation to develop that expertise.
- Clear communication, effective collaboration with technical and nontechnical colleagues, and experience helping other engineers develop.
- Experience building recommendation services, working with lakehouse platforms, or handling high-throughput processing is a plus.

- You'll build and operate the data products behind Axel Springer's media and advertising business: services, pipelines, and modeled datasets used by product teams, analysts, and data scientists.
- This is a hands-on engineering role with responsibility for driving projects from initial idea through to production and ongoing operation.
- You'll help shape solutions, align with stakeholders, and deliver reliable, maintainable software.
- Our stack combines Go and Python in roughly equal measure, with some TypeScript, using AWS and Palantir Foundry.
- Experience delivering cloud solutions is essential; prior experience with our specific platforms is not.
- You'll report to a Data Engineering Manager and work within a business domain alongside engineers, data scientists, analysts, and product partners.
- Our domains include subscriptions, advertising, audience tracking, content performance, and event data.
